COVID-19 RESPONSE

Currently in Uganda there are 50 imported cases in a government quarantine unit; the country has taken extreme precautions to try and prevent the spread of the virus and the devastation other countries have seen. All public and private transport has been banned and all non-essential
services closed including schools. For many of our children their hot school meal is their only meal they get each day.

Covid-19 Relief

Social Distancing is a privilege that most of our families don’t have access to. None of our families live in a house with more than 2 rooms, none of them have an indoor bathroom, and none have enough savings to stock food for the coming weeks. These restrictions have made it impossible for abundant life parents to work and earn money to buy food for each day.

As we are not paying the schools fees this month, we have used each child’s sponsorship money to buy some essentials for their family.

£15 was able to buy each family 5kg of rice/posho, 5kg of beans, 4 bars of soap and some vegetables. The families were incredibly thankful and many parents responded in tears to such a gift, but as you can imagine, this will not last for long.

Please pray protection over our Abundant Life families and for wisdom as we try to serve them. Although the women who have completed our business course have some savings this is not enough to sustain them for months.

We also want to say a huge thank you to a group of women from Newtownards who have provided good quality underwear and sanitary towels for the teenage girls in our education program. All of our girls went home for the lockdown with new underwear and enough sanitary pads for several months. We hope to have a more sustainable and environmentally friendly sanitary product in the near future but this has been a very useful donation to meet our present needs.

THANK YOU
Thanks to your generosity we have been able to provide large sacs of posho (a Ugandan staple) and dried beans to every Abundant Life family. This will ensure our sponsored children and their families won’t be hungry during the next few weeks of this lockdown period.
Thank you to everyone who has donated!
