Women empowerment

Minimum wage in Uganda is £21 per month which is what many poorly-educated women are paid when employed. Many women don’t have access to capital to start a business. We have already proven this concept as a sustainable project with a handful of pilot families. We have partnered with another Ugandan organisation, Abide Family Centre, to run an intense 2-week business and parenting course for the women selected for this project. Common businesses we have seen work before are on street businesses including fruit and vegetable shop, canteen, tailoring, hairdressing and solar lights. The scheme works on very basic and simple parameters:

  • Loan maximum: £100.
  • 3 months no repayments.
  • Monthly repayments: £10 for 10 months.

The cost of the course is £10 per woman, meaning £110 can bring dignity, financial stability and sustainability to a family in Uganda. Please get in touch if you would like to partner with us and we will keep you updated about progress and achievements in the life of a family because of your donation.
